The 2014 Philadelphia Honey Festival is taking place and has plenty of kid-friendly fun to be had at historic landmarks locations throughout Philadelphia this Saturday September 6th and Sunday September 7th. On Saturday September 6th bring the whole family out to Wyck Historic House, Garden, and Farm for free admission to the museum plus great children’s activities, open hive viewing and more! Then on Sunday September 7th head to Philly’s Bartram Gardens from 10am – 4pm for more honey bee funn including a Be-a-Bee pageant, Children’s Bee parade and lots more. Free.
The littlest music lovers (ages 3-5) will delight in this jazz journey for kids at Free at the Kimmel: Grow Up Great happening at the Kimmel Center on Saturday September 6th at 11am. Learn all about the America’s unique jazz music style, see and try musical instruments, and even join the band and interact with the musicians! Free.
Head to the Kennett Square – the mushroom capital of the world right in our own backyard for the annual Kennett Square Mushroom Festival this Saturday September 6th and Sunday September 7th. There will be street vendors, farm tours, mushroom demos and tastings plus kids entertainment from the Brandywine Zoo, the Give and Take juggler, live music and more. $2 admission. $10 parking.
The annual Broomall Fire Company Fall Carnival takes place this Friday September 5th – Sunday September 7th. Enjoy games, rides, food and fun. Tickets $1.50 each or $25 for a block of 25 or $50 for a block of 56.
There is something for everyone at the newly opened Dilworth Park this Saturday September 6th during Playtime in the Park from 11am – 4pm. Kids will get to enjoy music and dance entertainment, the KYW Kidcast, arts and crafts from the Philly Art Center, games, storytelling, foundtain fun and lots more. Free.
Come out to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand during September for National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. This Saturday September 6th from 12-4pm at Columbus Square Park enjoy a cold cup of lemonade and fun for the kiddos with a moon bounce, raffles, treats and more. Donations welcome.
Celebrate Pennsylvania Coast Day at Penn’s Landing Marina this Saturday September 6th from 11am – 4pm. This free festival will feature family friendly fun celebrating Pennsylvania’s water coast. Embark on a Delaware River ferry ride, a kayak excursion, swan pedal-boat ride and more. Plus view the tug boat festival, ship tours, races and more. Don’t miss the 49th Annual Chadds Ford Days in the beautiful Brandywine River Valley at the Chadds Ford Historical Society from 10am – 5pm this Saturday September 6th and Sunday September 7th. This community event will showcase local artists and crafters and features live entertainment, tours of the historic John Chads House and more. $5 admission for adults. Kids free.
Bank of America again is sponsoring Museums on Us with free entry to many of the region’s best museums on the first full weekend of each month including this weekend this Saturday September 6th and Sunday September 7th for valid Bank of America cardholders.
