It’s practically mid October – how did THAT happen? The weekend weather forecast may not be ideal but there is still much fun for families to be had in and around Philly this weekend. Enjoy everything from helicopter and seaport festivals to Halloween and fall fun too!
Philadelphia’s County Fair is coming to The Oval in front of the Philadelphia Art Museum this Friday October 10th – Sunday October 12th. Enjoy a ride on the ferris wheel or play carnival games and fun. Families can also enjoy crafts and activities including a petting zoo, face paint, fall crafts and more. Free. Ferris wheel ride is $5.
The 8th Annual Mutt Strut and Fall Festival will be held at the Navy Yard this Saturday Oct. 11th starting at 9am (strut at 11am). Don’t miss the doggie costume contest, agility contest, and strut. Plus pet adoptions, live music, food trucks and fun for the whole family. Free.
The 3rd Annual Old City Seaport Festival takes place this weekend running Friday October 10th – Sunday October 12th. This weekend long festival will feature Tall Ships, live music, a craft village, great food and fun activities along the waterfront too. General admission is free. Festival admission (includes tall ship deck tours and Seaport Museum access) $16 adults, $12 children.
This free family fun day happening Saturday Oct. 11th from 11am – 3pm at SMITH Memorial Playground is in honor of the legacy of David Pincus who aimed to put a smile on every child’s face. Enjoy a circus performance, face painting, treats and of course playground fun. Free.
The annual Rotorfest returns to the American Helicopter Museum in West Chester this Saturday October 11th and Sunday October 12th. Don’t miss the all helicopter air show including military reenactments and air jumpers and of course helicopter rides. $15 adults, $10 for kids under 12, free for kids ages 2 and under. Helicopter rides additional ticket.
The Camden Children’s Garden hosts the annual salute to Autumn and Mum Bear, their mascot on Saturday Oct. 11th and Sunday October 12th from 1-4pm. Kids of all ages will enjoy pumpkin crafts and activities including a pumpkin story and of course a pumpkin parade, too. $6, free for kids 2 and under.
October means the return of Spooky Mini-Golf at Franklin Square this weekend running Friday October 10th through Sunday October 12th from 6-9pm. Phillly’s favorite mini-golf course is transformed for the Halloween season with spooky surprises, fog, and special lighting to ensure a spooktastic time for all. Tickets $7-$9.
Great dressed in your best costumes and head out to The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular at Sesame Place running this weekend for some not-too spooky fun. Enjoy two new Halloween shows, themed mazes, and even a hayride with your favorite furry friend. Plus enjoy all the usual rides and attractions and fun for the whole family. Tickets $38-$63.
Linvilla Orchards kicks off the Halloween season with the return of Pumpkinland and the popular Hayrides to the Witches House running Friday October 10th through Sunday October 12th. Families can select their pumpkins from the over 100 tons on display and enjoy fall treats and fun and then hop aboard the hayride to the witches house too. Hayrides run from 5:30-8:30pm. Pumpkinland 8am – 6pm. Free.
Enjoy free admission to the beautiful Brandywine River Museum on Sunday mornings including this Sunday October 12th between 9:30am – 12pm. Free.
The Penn Museum’s Second Saturday Family Workshop happens on Sunday Oct. 12th from 1-4pm with a focus on the Etruscan Sarcophagus. Families can drop in to learn about ancient Etruscans and their elaborate rituals in preparation for the afterlife. Free with museum admission. $15 for adults. $10 for children ages 6-17. Free for kids 5 and under.
