The free Community Science Festival happening Saturday August 1st from 11am – 3pm sponsored by the Science Education Academy Inc., encourages kids grades K-6 to be curious scientific investigators with hands on science activities and an opportunity to meet science professionals attend poster sessions and workshops and learn more about Science Education Academy, too. Bank of America again is sponsoring Museums on Us with free entry to many of the region’s best museums on the first weekend of each month including this weekend this Saturday August 1st and Sunday August 2nd for valid Bank of America cardholders. Select participating museums from the region include African American Museum, National Constitution Center, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Allentown Art Museum, Garden State Discovery Museum, Wheaton Arts & Cultural Center, Noyes Museum of Art, Delaware Art Museum, Delaware Museum of Natural History, and Winterthur. Don’t miss Mess Fest happening this weekend at the Franklin Institute with Splish Splash on Saturday August 1st then Gross Academy on Sunday August 2nd. Kids will loved getting grossed out and learning about real science too! $19.95 for adults, $15.95 for kids ages 3-11.
The 7th Annual World Breastfeeding Week Family Fun Day takes place this Saturday August 1st from 10am – 1pm at Masons Mill Park in Huntingdon Valley PA. Enjoy family-friendly entertainment and food while learning raising awareness about breastfeeding, too. Free.
Celebrate the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast with a unique twist this weekend at Hedgerow Theatre this Saturday August 1st at 11am. This unique performance encourages interactivity and creativity by getting kids involved in the story directly and is sure to delight kids of all ages as they meet Belle and the Beast and other inhabitants of the enchanted castle, too. $10.

The fun on the river continues this weekend at Spruce Street Harbor Park Blue Cross River Rink July 31st – August 2nd open 11am – 11pm. The Animal Grossology exhibit continues this weekend at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. Kids of all ages will be amused and educated with this fun exhibit highlighting the slimiest, stinkiest, and yuckiest creatures on earth! Exhibit entrance is $5.00 in addition to museum admission $15.95/adults, $13.95 kids ages 3-12.
The Art of the Brick continues this weekend running Friday July 31st through Sunday August 2nd at The Franklin Institute. The display of LEGO brick artistic masterpieces explores the intersection of art and science and will delight builders and LEGO fans of all ages.
