The Philly heat wave continues this weekend but there is plenty of fun both inside and out to stay cool and have lots of fun. Check out an indoor carnival at Oxford Valley Mall or shake your grove thang at the Baby Loves Disco Superhero Tour at the Loews Hotel. And take your personal mini-fans and your icy drinks out to Wiggins Park to enjoy the Kids Corner Garden at the WXPN XPoNential Music Festival all weekend, too!
Butterfly Tea Party

Geared for kids ages 3 and older this Butterfly Tea party at the Buttinger Nature Center on Saturday July 23rd at 10:30am offers children the opportunity to catch butterflies in the fields with nets, take a tour of the center’s butterfly house and then enjoy lemonade and cookies. $12 per person. Registration required.

Oxford Valley Mall
Enjoy an Indoor Carnival(i.e., air conditioned!) for Kidgits members at the Oxford Valley Mall this Saturday July 23rd at 11am. Carnival features free fun games and activities including a moonbounce, balloon art, face painting, cotton candy and much more. Kidgets annual mall membership $5 per child. Carnival free to Kidgits members.
Kids and families can get their groove on at this next Baby Loves Disco Superhero Tour event taking place on Saturday July 23rd at 2pm at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia. Kids can dress as their favorite superhero or just come as themselves. Proceeds support community schools. $15 per person or $50 for 4 people.
Happy Birthday SMITH Playground!! It’s the 112th Birthday Party of SMITH Playground this Saturday July 23rd from 10am – 1pm. It’s a celebration with games, crafts, and a raffle to win a SMITH Birthday Party and of course plenty of time to enjoy the Playground. Free.
Kids and Big Kids can climb in construction trucks, motorcycles, fire trucks, trash trucks, a cement mixer, police cars, ambulances, a school bus, and tow trucks! Plus some “no touch” antique cars and a bounce house! It’s the annual WXPN XPoNential Music Festival this weekend Saturday July 23rd and Sunday July 24th from 12 Noon – 6pm at the Camden Waterfront with lots of great family fun for all including live music, make and take crafts, rides, and other family activities and gardens. Plus Kids Corner host, Kathy O’Connell will be on hand for meet and greets and music fun. Kids ages 2-12 are just $5 per day (Adults $30 for non-WXPN members). See festival website for full details.
Families can enjoy a Magical Friends Tea Party at Tyler Arboretum this Sunday July 24th at 1:30pm. Take part in a magical scavenger hunt, create an enchanted halo and magical craft to take home, and wrap up with an elegant fairy tea with cookies, and more. Fairy, elf, and wizard attired encouraged! For families with children ages 4 and older. Pre-registration required. $10.
