The end of March can’t quite decide if it’s going out like a lamb or not but the fun spring festivities are abundant! Get out this weekend and hop into some springtime family fun!
The entire family will enjoy this Family Fun Fishing Derby at Linvilla Orchards on Saturday March 31st at 9:00am (meet at the Market starting at 8am). Relax while you sit on the banks of trout-filled Orchard Lake fishing for big trout plus big prizes and more for all. $14.99 entry fee, each additional fish is $4.99 per pound (no fishing license required).
The East Passayunk Easter Egg Hunt takes place in the outdoor gardens at Le Virtu’s Restaurant on this Saturday March 31st starting at 11am. Hunts are staggered by age group (11am for ages 4 and under, 12pm for ages 5-7, 1pm for ages 8-10). Free.
Easter at The Bellevue Hotel takes place on Saturday March 31st at the Bellevue Food Court. FREE photos with the Easter Bunny from 12-2pm. There will also be a setup for kids to decorate a picture frame to take home with them as well as a goody bag!

It’s the grand opening weekend celebration of the Shofuso Japanese House & Garden this Saturday March 31st and Sunday April 1st from 11am – 5pm. This traditional Japanese house and garden has added the Sakura Pavilion and wants you to come help celebrate with a kagami biraki (ceremonial sake cask breaking) on March 31st and all entertainment, workshops and other activities all weekend. Free.

Imagine your child’s delight at seeing the Easter Bunny arrive via helicopter on Saturday March 31st at the American Helicopter Museum in West Chester. Photos with the Easter Bunny start at 1:30pm. Tickets $8 for kids of all ages includes meeting the Easter Bunny, all-you-can-jump moon bounces, healthy snacks, face painting, and other holiday activities. Adults $10.
Children visiting the Betsy Ross House in Historic Philadelphia can help one of Betsy’s daughters get well again by taking on the role of a colonial doctor searching Betsy’s house for ingredients needed for an 18th century home cough remedy. Runs March 31st through April 15th. Free.
The Philly Farm & Food Fest taking place this Sunday April 1st is a family friendly celebration of local food and farmers in Philly has plenty fun for the littlest food lovers including workshops, scavenger hunts, great food and more. Plus adults get to learn about locally sourced fare from the best Philly area farms as well as artisans and businesses showcasing the great local foods of Philly. Tickets $20 at the door, ages 12 and younger free.
Families with teens and tweens will enjoy this musical comedy set to the compelling music of Jason Robert Brown called 13. It’s about coming of age, teen traumas and middle school survival in this high-energy musical that tackles the trials and traumas of growing up and fitting in, Don’t miss this rite of passage story to which all ages can relate (though ideally suited for kids ages 10 and older). It’s opening weekend of The Philadelphia Zoo’s newest exhibit The Trail of the Lorax, a 3-dimensional interactive experience that shares the true story of an animal in peril, the endangered orangutan. The first Sunday of the month means Pay What You Wish Admission at the Philadelphia Museum of Art this Sunday April 1st from 10am – 5pm. What a great and affordable way to take the whole family to the art museum without worrying that you paid full admission if you have to leave early for naps or one of your little one melts down in one of the exhibits. The American Swedish History Museum hosts an easter egg hunt and workshop this Sunday April 1st from 2-4pm. Introduce your little ones to unique Swedish easter traditons such as dressing up as easter witches. Plus enjoy face painting, crafts and more! On Sunday April 1st enjoy a delicious Easter Brunch followed by an egg hunt throughout the Elmwood Park Zoo and photos with the Easter Bunny. Brunch features eggs, a fresh waffle station, French toast as well as kid fave mac and cheese plus chicken primavera and more. Tickets $25 per adult, $15 per child.
