I have really fond memories of going to girl scouts camp when I was a little girl. I went to a camp called Camp Inawendiwin – it was a sleep away camp that we went with our troop to but it was a great experience and I had a blast. (I can still remember the song we sang!) So when I was approached about an opportunity for my five year old daughter to check out a Girl Scouts Day Camp this summer I jumped at the chance to expose her to the wonderful world of Girl Scouts camp!
Did you know that you don’t need to be a Girl Scout to sign up for an incredible camp experience with the premier leadership organization for girls in our region? (Good thing because I haven’t gotten my daughter involved in any scouts yet – though I definitely will next year now that she has her first year of school under her belt.)
Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania is proud to present ALL local girls with the opportunity to grow as resourceful decision makers, get in touch with nature, and develop friendships for a lifetime at a multitude of day and overnight themed summer camps. Girl Scout camp offers unique leadership-building experiences for girls of all ages. While your daughter spends time at camp, you can feel good knowing that she’s not only having fun and making new friends, but is also developing real-world skills that will encourage her to pursue her dreams and challenge herself in the future.
Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania (GSEP) offers summer camps open to all girls in eastern Pennsylvania at six different campsites across the region including three Overnight Camps: Camp Laughing Waters (Gilbertsville, PA); Camp Mosey Wood (White Haven, PA); and Camp Wood Haven (Pine Grove, PA) and three Day Camps: Camp Mountain House (Allentown, PA); Shelly Ridge Day Camp (Miquon, PA); and Valley Forge Day Camp (Valley Forge, PA). Each camp offers a unique setting and amenities and camp experience. Click here for detailed information on each camp and available programs.
Each Girl Scout camp combines traditional camp activities like campfires, sports and hiking with new opportunities to explore and grow including horseback riding, stand up paddleboards, archery, pottery, music, theatre and much more. I chose to sign my little fashionista up for Passion for Fashion Camp at Valley Forge Day Camp where she will get all the traditional camp experiences but also have the opportunity to be a fashion designer and create original clothing and then show it all off at the end of camp fashion show for family and friends. I think my daughter is just going to love this camp and am so excited for her to have an opportunity to try it out!
GSEP provides an affordable camping experience for all families so that no girl is denied access to the benefits of camp. Financial assistance is made available to parents looking to sign their daughter up for camp this summer. When registering your daughter, be sure to read the financial aid application to see you if you are eligible. In addition to financial aid, Camp Scholarships are available thanks to the generosity of individual donors. Each year, Girl Scouts is honored to select distinguished girls for camperships, granting them the chance to experience the benefits of Girl Scout camp.
For parents facing the challenge of day camp schedules during the summer months, bus transportation and extended days are also offered to many of GSEP’s campsites. This year, Girl Scouts is pleased to add a new bus route for girls in the Philadelphia and Chester County region to multiple resident and day camps.
GSEP day camps are a great alternative to traditional day care for the summer months. You can sign your child up for summer camp for one week or every week of the summer at an affordable cost and know that she’ll learn valuable lessons and make new friends.
If you’re looking for a fun, affordable camp experience for your daughter, look no further than the array of themed day and overnight summer camps for girls ages 5-17 at Girl Scouts Camp. I can’t wait to see how my daughter’s camp experience is at Girl Scouts camp this summer!

Disclosure: I was provided a week of camp for my daughter to experience for the purposes of reviewing and promoting Girl Scouts camp. I honestly can’t wait for her to experience it and share that with you all, too! As always, all opinions expressed about Girls Scout camp being a fun and affordable way to give girls a confidence building, life-changing summer experience are our own.
