Join Jay Sand of the “All Around This World” international music classes for kids (http://www.AllAroundThisWorld.com) this Saturday, August 14, at 2pm, for a free musical snacktime at Milk and Honey Market, 4435 Baltimore Ave. After a healthy Milk and Honey snack, Jay will sing songs from Latin America, Africa, South and Central Asia and, in preparation for the upcoming autumn session of music class, the Caribbean, with you and your children (seven years-ish and younger). The snacktime is free for everyone. The snacktime will be fun for everyone.
Starting this fall there’s even one more reason for you and your kids to come to Milk and Honey Snacktimes with Jay. Beginning in September, if you RSVP in advance to the snacktime (and then actually show 🙂 Jay will give you credit toward a free “All Around This World” music class. Come to three snacktimes you’ll earn a free class (generally about a $15 value). If you’re already a music class student, Jay will give you credit for your next session. So, not only will the snacktime be fun for you and your kids, and not only will it be free…it will even be better than free.
If you’re interested in sharing international music with your kids on a weekly basis consider joining Jay for “All Around This World” classes this fall. The autumn session starts on Saturday, September 11. We’ll be enjoying songs, dances and surprises from the Caribbean!!
And be sure to save this date…
YOU ARE INVITED to the first annual (and maybe the last annual) All Around This World “Whine and Cheese” extravaganza! Details below:
WHO: You! You and your kids, of course. Bring friends, relatives, friends’ kids, friends’ relatives and all relatively friendly kids. This party is primarily for families that include children eight and under (hence the “whine”), though everyone is invited.
WHAT: The first ever “Whine and Cheese” party to celebrate the past successful year of “All Around This Music” classes, and to start the new year off of music class off with a proverbial bang. You are and your children are invited to come to Jay’s “All Around This World home studio” for brunch. You are required only to bring yourself, your smiling kiddos and nothing else…though if the spirit moves you feel free to bring a bottle of wine, some fancy schmancy cheese and/or some tasty bread that would go well with said cheese.
WHERE: Jay and Lauren’s house, 4336 Pine, in West Philly.
WHEN: Saturday, August 28. Come at 10:30 am for the last music class of the summer session. Party starts at 11:30 am and will go until about 3 pm.
WHY: This is a party to celebrate the first year of “All Around This World” music classes, the unique-to-Philly music program that encourages kids eight years old and under and their parents/caregivers to learn about the world by enjoying international songs, rhythms and movement. The party will mark the happy occasion of “All Around This World” being recognized in Philadelphia Magazine’s “Best of Philly 2010” issue as “Best Date With Your Kid.” It will also look ahead to a successful 2010-2011 in which Jay will be singing songs in class from the Caribbean, Eastern Europe and the Balkans, and East and Southeast Asia, and during which music class will be coming to Mt. Airy, Rittenhouse Square and beyond.
If you’ve been bringing your kids to class you know how much fun we had in 2009-2010 singing songs from Latin America, Africa and South and Central Asia. If you haven’t, feel no pressure to sign up for the fall — this will be a party, not a sales pitch. Come one come all!
